Rosie the Riveter. Everyone knows this tough lady. Popularized during World War II, Rosie became a cultural icon for women who took over “men’s work” in the factories when they all went off to war. She’s a symbol for strength and feminism among women, and us. That’s what makes Rosie our skin of the day, brought to you by Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
