The Good, The Bad, and the iOS6

I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad that I didn’t have to deal with hours of wait for the iPhone iOS 6 update. Most that know me personally know of my current cellphone struggle. I don’t have a smartphone, and I’m having a good day if I can understand who’s speaking to me on the other line. I constantly complain about this phone, but yesterday, I, bittersweetly, felt ok about it. My twitter timeline last night was filled with complaints of how long it’s taking to download the iOS6 update. I figured maybe it was just my group of acquaintances, then I dug deeper and found out that most were complaining about it. Let’s take a look at some of those complaints.

102 Hours of Wait? Holy.

Maybe the wait is worth it? Some of the top features of the update include:

Maps (Flyover and Turn-by-Turn Directions)

Apple is introducing their new maps feature that will be replacing Google Maps and it comes with Turn-by-Turn directions by as Siri. The other feature is flyover, which shows some cities and landmarks in 3D.

Siri

The third generation of Siri includes opening apps with voice command. The previously stated Turn-by-Turn directions, and information on movies, sports, and restaurants – which correlates with Passbook.

Passbook

Passbook will be able to store movie tickets, sports tickets, boarding passes, and other items digitally.

Do Not Disturb

My personal favorite, if I had an iPhone I would be so gassed! This allows those group of loners and I-Wanna-Get-Away people to disconnect from the world. The settings feature, when on, will not allow phone calls to get through and notifications to pop up.

There’s obviously more features, but I can see why the wait was worth it. It looks like it’s definitely.
