Nobody knows the genuine joy I felt when I heard this. Seriously. I know I’m not one to speak about reality TV on a regular basis, but I had a soft spot for Laguna Beach when I was an undergrad. If you were a fan as well, then you completely understand the simple and inevitable transition into being a fan of The Hills. One of the common denominators?
Starting in June with the beginning of the eighth season, Brody Jenner will be a permanent fixture on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. He’s made cameos on the show with his father and sisters, both step and half, and the brothers, both step and in-law (and Scott, too). However, this change of status means that former fans of Laguna and The Hills can now prepare to bask in the glorious nostalgia that is Brody Jenner, at least once a week, all summer long.
When you watch reality shows in your youth, about others in their youth, you tend to form a bond with the people on the show. Granted, they aren’t fully aware of your secret friendship, but it does happen. You laugh when they laugh, you cry when they cry, and the fact that you can ignore people in real life crying on the subway or what have you is proof of that connection with the people on the screen. It’s ok. Just about everyone does it. So, with Brody joining the cast of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, it’s like being able to check in with an old friend to see how he’s doing. How YOU doin, Brody?

Julia Cuozzo is a recent graduate from the Pace University MS in Publishing program. Though the future is uncertain, the one thing she knows is that in August 2013, she will be in Bunol, Spain, throwing tomatoes with some of the best tomato throwers in the world. She is also a huge fan of coffee and finds decaf to be an abomination.
