I don’t usually watch reality singing competitions. It’s just I’ve realized that the winners usually don’t have a long, consistent career in the music business, so I figured committing 6-8 months would be a waste of time since they don’t do anything after anyway . I do admit that I watch all the outtakes and bad auditions. Actually, to be quite honest, it’s probably some of the most entertaining television ever. In the third season of American Idol, an audition changed the horrible audition game forever.
William Hung, a civil engineering student at University of California in Berkeley, audition for American Idol’s third season. His cover of Ricky Martin’s “She Bang” was so bad that he received a $25,000 advance to record three albums with Koch Records. He also became a cult icon and appeared in TV shows such as Celebrity Deathmatch and Nickelodeon’s TV-Movie Fairy Idol.
Let me cure your case of the Mondays with this Afternoon Pick Me Up of WIlliam Hung’s “She Bang” cover!
Last night, I was roaming through channels and landed on HBO. Aint it sad that Sopranos ended?
